Thanksgiving Island Style
Wishing all of you a Happy Thanksgiving from our holiday ‘home away from home’ on one of SC’s barrier islands. .Rather than sharing a few recipes in this post, for my family the holiday is about getting together with friends and/or family that we love and simply enjoying the serenity of slowing down and enjoying the natural beauty that surrounds us on this quiet island along the Atlantic Ocean.
At dawn we head off for a morning stroll along the beach, sharing the natural environment with hungry seagulls searching for their breakfast as the tide rolls out to sea.
We come together again to eat heartily, drink festively, and laugh in merriment while chasing toddlers (though this year they couldn’t make the long trip), reminiscing good times, and taking in lots of football games.
Once again at sunset, we take one more quiet walk on the soft, ancient sand before nodding off into a peaceful sleep amidst gentle ocean breezes slipping through the night air.
The photos of the island speak quietly of themselves.

Beautiful getaway, Roz! Missed this post the first time around. I’ve subscribed to your blog again—hoping it will take one of these times. Miss catching up with you. Was so fun to spend time with Kelly this fall. I love her to pieces—you, too. xo
Gosh, I sure hope the subscription process works for you this time around, Liz. Love having you visit!

What a beautiful place! I enjoyed seeing the pictures. So different from where we live! I’m glad you were able to get away and relax and be with family!
Shari, We love to get away, but are enjoying more ‘stay-cactions’ these days!
Happy 2017!

It sounds like you had a perfect Thanksgiving day with your family. Love the sunny photos…it is in the teens here with 9 inches of snow on the ground.
Hi Karen,
I am originally from the cold weather region of the Midwestern USA, and although I love my roots of origin, I am most grateful for this blessing of having an island escape and sojourn of peaceful tranquility that is so beneficial for the soul! Thank you for joining me through cyber-space on my island holiday!

We had a quiet Thanksgiving this year. We’re the only ones who have Thanksgiving for miles around and there’s no holiday nor Black Friday shopping. For us it’s always a day to take stock of how lucky we are.
Its a beautiful place to make happy memories. Thank you for sharing xo ♥
Thank you Katherine; it sure is, with lots of blessings to be thankful for!
What a beautiful island!
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family, Roz!
